  • I arrived to Sweetchillli at about 12:30. I was happily surprised to see how packed it was. The main room (the progressive room) was totally full, with everyone totally into the night and enjoying themselves. I only caught the last 30 minutes of Trent Anthony’s set, and was disappointed I had missed so much of it. It was Trent’s birthday and you could tell he was really getting into it and enjoying himself. One of his last tracks was Halo Varga “Dark Clouds”, an amazing tune from mid last year. He finished to the cheers of the crowd who were very appreciative of his set and who also wished him a happy birthday. At the same time Trent was playing in the progressive room, Leah was playing in the funky/breaks room. This is the first time I have ever seen Leah play breaks and I was very impressed. Chunky breaks, with enough of a funky edge to keep everyone happy. Following Trent in the progressive room was Crispin, who really showed that he is a talented DJ. Keeping the tempo high, Crispin took over where Trent had left off. Playing tribal progressive, breaks, and progressive with a trancey tip, Crispin had the dance floor moving. He played Nat Monday “Waitin’” (Creamer and K mix), Deceptions "Easter Promises" and Tijuana “Groove is in the Air”. Before you knew it, it was 3 o’clock and it was time for Mark Dyanmix to take over the reins. Mark set really varied it up. Moving from the dark progressive, to more funky stuff and back again. He started off with the Pappa and Gilbey “Skin Deep” (Dub Mix), followed this with a nice renaissance style vocal track, and then with a new remix of Sia “Drink to Get Drunk”. Mark really showed what a versatile DJ is, intertwining different styles, and keeping it anything but boring. Before I knew it, it was time to go home. I would sum up Sweetchilli by saying, a great crowd, amazing atmosphere and the best music of any club night in Sydney. A definite winner!
