Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon's comeback EP finds them in an unsurprisingly more mature, reflective place (at least relatively). Take "Creative Source," a classic sample-based French house loop based around the band of the same name. Maybe it's just the high-BPM times we live in, but it feels laid-back, a pool party jam more than a late-night banger. In A-Trak's hands, it becomes the dizzy, feverish French touch anthem it had the potential for all along. The simple combination of repetition, speed and filtering—plus a breakdown that lets the sample unspool a little—will never, ever get boring, and it's a testament to the Canadian DJ that he can make the track so much more potent with just a few small tweaks.
