- A world-class DJ serves up four rare, brain-scrambling tunes.
- Intergalactic Gary, a respected DJ with roots in The Hague's iconic electro scene, has been active for decades, but only his biggest fans would know about his small catalogue of productions. Stretching back to 1995 and his Cold Turkey EP as Silverstream, that catalogue has been revived with a new record on Midnight Shift, a label that's released music from similarly respected veterans like Kirk Degiorgio, Xhin and Gene Hunt.
Signs Of Disarray, Gary's new record, likely won't generate much new interest in his productions (it's too wacky for most ears), but it will freak out late-night dance floors. The deep and reduced "Nickel From The Bumper," my personal highlight, is the kind of thing you might hear during a night at Düsseldorf's Salon des Amateurs, where twisted bleeps and slo-mo beats rule. The more percussive "Mystified" is a touch brighter, a counterpoint to the mean grooves throughout the rest of this brain-scrambling EP.
