- You can hear the sound of summer in "Nobody But You," the latest single from George FitzGerald's new album, All That Must Be. All rippling synths and piano stabs, it's a collaboration with Hudson Scott, a friend and vocalist with ties to the indie band Foals. "This track reminds me of my friends in South London and late summer nights trailing through pubs and house parties," FitzGerald says of the tune, which is another warm slice of the pop-meets-house he's delivered for the past few years. This time it's all about the intro, building from a solemn smoke trail of feedback to a tumbling crescendo of twinkling synth, ghostly vocals and piano—all before we get a whiff of the kick drum. The plodding rhythm takes us through to a celestial breakdown that teases an epic finale that never appears, making the following silence—and what could be FitzGerald's newborn child—so much louder. It brings an original touch to a familiar sound.
