Prins Thomas - Bobletekno & Flau Pappadans Versions

  • Prins Thomas' thrumming, futuristic "Bobletekno," taken from his self-titled album, has already yielded a 12-inch release on his Full Pupp label that featured three remixes from DJ Sotofett. "DJ Sotofett Presents King Phat's Mix Choons (Of Prins Thomas' Bobletekno)" (to give it its full name) saw the Sex Tags Mania boss dress up the original a few different ways, as if trying to see which suited the song best. For my money, the staccato strings and ghostly vocals made the "Ride-On-411-Disco-Mix" the one, though ocean sounds and ghostly chimes made his beatless "New Age Mix" pretty special, too. Now a second 12-inch on Full Pupp presents three versions of "Bobletekno," plus a take on Prins Thomas's album track "Flau Pappadans." On Kambo Super Sound's "Bobledub (Melodica Kutt)," offbeat piano chords, a nice deep bassline and tumbling bongos drive a happy groove, all countered by a wistful melody. You'd think a second dub mix would be superfluous, but "Bobledub' (Dub Kutt)" puts that idea to rest by doing away with the melody and adding a moody piano line, colourful synths and savage bass. DJ Fett Burger's "TællekællMix" of "Flau Pappadans" sees him dissipate a cloud of oddball synths over a deep house groove. Plus One's blithe disco remix is good fun, but it feels too glossy after the dubbed-out versions.
