- It's a punch in the face. No bones. All caps. RAW. The German producer has worn all sorts of hats through his long career, but this EP sounds hungry, determined, ferocious. At least its first track. "Future Acid"'s bassline and synth are carved from unkempt and jagged frequencies that only gain in potency once the promised squelch starts flailing wildly. The unhinged depravity of the A1 is offset by the sterility of "R-Byte." Though it's based around a fairly meaty kick/snare combo, the track's melody is driven entirely by a single chord, again carved in sharp angles out of digital wreckage. Like being beat to death with a perfectly square object, the track's aggressive obstinacy recalls the frowny yet dance floor-friendly moments of SND's late '00s work. It's mercifully short, but bound to leave you dizzy anyway.
The EP wraps up with the equally confusing "MEM," which endlessly loops a jumble of bleeps (think Actress' "Holy Water") and attempts to box it in with techno percussion. These latter two tracks put a more experimental slant on a 12-inch with one beast of a club track on the flip.
