- Having released the much-played Walk On In and Treptow on Numbers, this is Doc Daneeka's first release on his own label since 2012. It finds him shapeshifting as ever—his ear for a melody and abundant technical skill are among the only constants here. Two of the EP's four cuts feature vocals from Seven Davis Jr. "What’s It Gonna Be?" is a dogged club groover that pairs Davis's impatient vocal ("You know that I want you / Don't tease me / I don't wanna play this game") alongside melodious key flecks and skittering little background patterns.
Quality control and variety remain high throughout the EP's middle section. "Together" channels crescendo-chasing disco, and "Ghost Text" is pulsing acid-house that skitters winsomely on big, sighing keys and a body-moving percussive rattle. Closer "I Promise" is a loungey quasi-ballad that finds Davis in full-scale seduction mode and Doc Daneeka nonchalantly nailing it from yet another different direction.
