- Drum n bass producer/junk food junkie Danny Byrd serves up his debut artist album Supersized this month.
Drum n bass producer/junk food junkie Danny Byrd is set to serve up his debut artist album. Supersized is out at the end of this month.
Byrd, an alleged kebab fanatic who’s also “had a BLT every day for the last five years” according to the Hospital Records podcast, signed his first EP Do It Again to the label back in 2000. Since then he’s released a handful of tracks like ‘Soul Function’ and ‘Dog Hill’ that reflect his penchant for chopped R&B vocals and sunny synths. His hit single from January, ‘Shock Out’ was more of the same but, more interesting, made using an ancient jungle production sampler, the Akai S5000.
‘Shock Out’ and its B-side ‘Labyrinth’ show up again on Supersized, along with a VIP refix of 2004’s ‘Planet Music’ and the original version of 2005’s ‘Soul Function’. There are also two vocalist collaborations (a first for Byrd): ‘Joy & Pain’ with R&B songstress ReDD and ‘Red Mist’ with rapper IK.
