Man stabbed to death at Birmingham club Crane named as Cody Fisher

- Two men have been arrested after a man was stabbed to death on the dance floor of Birmingham club Crane on Boxing Day (December 26th). A 22-year-old was arrested in Birmingham and a 21-year-old was arrested in London, according to the BBC. The incident occurred at 11:45 PM during an event featuring Marco Carola and Mason Maynard. The man, who has since been named as 23-year-old non-league footballer Cody Fisher, was pronounced dead roughly 30 minutes later. Police are urging anyone who was in the club to get in touch. In a statement on social media, Crane said its staff were "deeply shocked and saddened" by the incident, adding that the venue is "working closely with West Midlands Police as they investigate this crime." A New Year's Eve party with DJ EZ and Kurupt FM will no longer go ahead. Fisher's family also wrote a statement, released by Birmingham Police. "They have broken our hearts; I have lost my best friend," the statement read. "My family and I are asking for privacy and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time." A number of eyewitness accounts highlighted the lax security at Crane on the night. Speaking to Sky News, one attendee said it was a "disaster waiting to happen." He added: "Me and the friend I was with, not once did we get asked to clear our pockets out even though mine were full. I had cargo trousers on with pockets full. They didn't even touch me while searching me, they just followed the outline of my body with their hands then tapped me to say go on through." Another attendee told the BBC that there were "groups of lads" who were "looking to cause trouble [...] As soon as me and my friends walked in, we got a very weird vibe and the atmosphere wasn't good."
