  • RA and Berlin radio station Refuge Worldwide will host a year of free, monthly DJ workshops. Over the next 12 months, RA will host beginner DJ workshops at Refuge Worldwide's studio and community space on Weserstraße in Neukölln, Berlin. The first one will take place on August 9th, and they will follow on selected Mondays each month.
The sessions will consist of a workshop hosted by an established DJ, followed by open deck slots for the students to practice. The first six mentors will be CCL, rRoxymore, Call Super, Sally C, Nick Höppner and Sky Deep. The final six will be announced later in the year. The course, which has been developed as part of Refuge Worldwide's ongoing partnership with Open Music Lab, is now accepting applicants—priority will be given to minority and marginalised groups. An introductory guide to DJing, created by Femme Bass Mafia, will be provided ahead of the workshops. The course dates will be subject to Covid-19 restrictions. Refuge Worldwide was set up by George Patrick in 2015 as a fundraising platform in solidarity with grassroots organizations in Berlin. It expanded into a radio station in January this year, broadcasting music and discussions every week Tuesday through Friday. Update: applications are now closed and RA will soon contact successful applicants. RA is committed to being transparent in our community efforts and is open to suggestions on ways we can better support independent networks across the globe. Please see our community page for more information on how to reach us and our community projects to date.
