The new album by Pantha Du Prince is out on March 6th via Modern Recordings.
Conference Of Trees is meant to answer the artist's own question: "What does it sound like when trees communicate?" While past work has focused on bells, for this record, Hendrik Weber uses a variety of instruments, including woodblock and xylophone (and some homemade), with help from a cast of percussionists. The songs were initially written with the acoustic instruments, with electronic elements added later, unlike his past work as Pantha Du Prince.
"Spending so much time in front of the computer and working with electronic machines started feeling a bit bleak to me," Weber says. "I wanted to find a way to spend more time outdoors and to legitimize it with art."
Weber's last album, the vocal-heavy The Triad, came out in 2016.
