The risk of bushfires has forced a last-minute change of plans for the New South Wales festival this weekend.
Subsonic Music Festival has announced a run of nine Sydney club shows this weekend after being forced to move from its original location at Riverwood Downs Mountain Valley Resort.
Festival director Scott Commens took to Facebook late last week to deliver the news that Subsonic 2019 would be postponed "amid safety concerns arising from ongoing fires in the area and critically low water levels in the Karuah River." The festival is expected to go ahead later on in the summer, with a new date and location to be revealed soon.
In the meantime, dozens of the acts billed will instead be placed around different venues across Sydney between December 6th and 8th, with festival ticket holders granted free access to all nine shows. Friday the 6th sees Saoirse, Steve Rachmad and Leon Vynehall play Universal, while Tijuana Cartel, True Vibenation and Klue appear at Max Watt's.
On Saturday the 7th, Club 77 hosts Leon Vynehall, Young Marco and San Proper, Archie Hamilton and DeWalta are at The Vault, Oliver Huntemann, Cristi Cons and Andy Garvey play Home The Venue, and Perfect Stranger headlines at The Bridge Hotel.
Fabric's 20th anniversary celebration will now take place at Home on the afternoon of Sunday the 8th with Ricardo Villalobos, Margaret Dygas, Craig Richards and Mathew Jonson, while Sonja Moonear and Stavroz play at The Greenwood Hotel. Later that night at Home, Roi Perez, Boris and DJ W!ld are all billed.
Festival ticket holders have been advised that along with granting free access to the weekend's club shows, their ticket will also remain valid for the new festival date TBA.
