- The first in a series of reissues, it compiles music from three cassettes spanning 2010 to 2011.
Vatican Shadow is re-releasing three early tapes on vinyl as a two-LP collection called Byzantine Private CIA via Hospital Productions.
Byzantine Private CIA is also the name of Dominick Fernow's first cassette as Vatican Shadow from 2010, which is included in the package. There are also tracks from Mural Of Saddam and Yemeni Commandos, which followed in 2011. Dealing conceptually with the brutality and dread of American imperialism in the Middle East and Afghanistan, it's explicitly inspired by Bryn Jones' Muslimgauze catalogue.
The tapes were produced in extremely limited runs and were never widely available for purchase. This collection is the first in a series of tape reissues he's planned.
Vatican Shadow recently mixed Berghain 09.
