- The Danish DJ kicks off Kulør with a ten-track compilation.
Courtesy is starting up a new label called Kulør.
The Danish producer and DJ revealed her new label in a Facebook post today. Courtesy, real name Najaaraq Vestbirk, says the name "is a way of saying colorful in Danish." She will also take care of the aesthetics of the project, saying that she has as "high ambitions with the visual aspects as I have with the music" and will be partnering with photographer Fee-Gloria Groenemeyer.
Kulør will kick things off with a compilation, Kulør 001, featuring ten "dance-floor-ready tracks from Copenhagen's most gifted producers," such as Schacke, IBON, Sugar and others. (Courtesy herself does not feature on the compilation.) The LP will be released as a triple-vinyl package and on digital formats next month.
"Sonically there's something wild happening in Copenhagen at the moment, and I hope this compilation can act as a point of reference for people to start digging into the magic that these guys are creating," Courtesy writes about the record and featured artists. "They have given me such amazing music to work with, music that I'm honoured to get the chance to release. It's been scary to start something on this scale solo for the first time, but also extremely exciting."
