- The NYC artist will release his fifth LP on Mexican Summer.
Arp has a new album on the way via Mexican Summer.
It's New York producer Alexis Georgopoulos's fifth album as Arp, and first for Mexican Summer following a string of LPs for Smalltown Supersound and a cassette full-length for Geographic North, released in 2016. Since then, he made a collaborative album with fellow Mexican Summer affiliate Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, launched an NTS show and "retreated to the studio to write and record... using analog synths, double bass, Rhodes, electronic and acoustic drums, flute, vintage harmonizers and tape delay," according to the label. The resultant full-length explores Fourth World, spiritual jazz, '80s Japanese and Komische influences, emphasizing "'points of connectivity' in a time when reactive and fractious isolationism threaten in divisive ways." For the Zebra sessions Georgopoulos often invited friends to join in to capture the "sound of interaction."
Listen to Arp's "Fluorescences."
