- Dossier is a four-part live record made using guitar and custom electronics.
Nicolas Jaar's Other People will release Dossier, an album from New York-based composer Patrick Higgins, in June.
Higgins, a long-time member of the band Zs, "traverses the styles of European avant-garde with the post-minimalist sounds of New York," according to the press release for Dossier. The new record was performed live without overdubs or edits. The sound centers around live sampling and programming "using MIDI triggers mapped to the guitar," with Higgins using the axe as both "an instrument and a controller." The experimental full-length deals with themes of alienation and the "inner emotional economy of contemporary digital life, its politics, erotics and violence." Alfredo Jaar, a well-known artist (and the father of Nicolas), provides the cover art.
