It fuses his two primary interests: jazz and Chicago house.
Hieroglyphic Being, real name Jamal Moss, will release a new album on Soul Jazz Records next month.
Moss describes The Red Notes as "an homage to the Blue Note jazz sound of Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane and Herbie Hancock" fused with acid and Chicago house. The nine-track LP will be his third for the label following 2015's The Acid Documents (initially released on the Sounds Of The Universe sub-label two years earlier) and K.M.T., a full-length he made with Noleian Reusse as Africans With Mainframes.
It'll be his second album-length release of 2018, following the self-released double-LP Acid Taken Over, a collection of six dance floor-focused techno tracks that also comes out next month.
