- (The Microcosm) is a follow-up to the 2013 private press new age compilation, I Am The Center.
(The Microcosm): Visionary Music of Continental Europe, 1970-1986 is out on Light In The Attic on November 4th.
The collection features a number of new age, krautrock and kosmische greats, such as Vangelis, Popol Vuh, Roedelius and Ash Ra Tempel, as well as recently re-discovered musicians like Ariel Kalma, Deutsche Wertarbeit and Gigi Masin. There are also some rather obscure acts, including the Dutch ambient artist Enno Velthuys and Gandalf member Robert Julian Horky.
The 16-track compilation follows up on the well-received 2013 set from Light In The Attic, I Am The Center (Private Issue New Age Music In America, 1950-1990). Both albums sport artwork from the astronomer Etienne Trouvelot and extensive liner notes. Pitchfork reports (The Microcosm) will be available on its own as well as as part of a six-LP bundle with I Am The Center.
Listen to Suzanne Doucet & Christian Buehner's "Shivas Dance."
