The South London club's latest layout addition will open in June, with Sankeys, Crew Love and Cocoon all taking over the space in the coming months.
Studio 338 is building a full-scale open-air beach arena for summer 2016, opening on Saturday, June 4th.
The team behind the Greenwich nightclub have ordered 180 tonnes of sand for the new project, which, once finished, will also feature wooden decking, two bars, barbecues, sunbathing decks, hammocks and cabanas. Detachable sails will be used in case of rain. The space will host its own season of events, starting with Sankeys Beach Festival (Citizenn, DJ W!ld) and Crew Love on June 4th and 5th respectively. Other highlights include a 15-hour Cocoon session on June 25th with Matador and Dana Ruh, Art Of Dark's fifth birthday with Sonja Moonear and Slow Life's Laurine, DJ Tree and Cecilio on July 2nd, and Flux with Kenny Larkin, Ewan Pearson and Daniel Bortz on July 9th.
Studio 338 has already undergone renovations this year, installing a ten-metre steel and glass atrium in the terrace in a bid to improve sound quality and limit escaping volume levels. For more on that, read our short interview with the club's music and events director, Dan Perrin, here.
