- Suburban Hunting will come via Cititrax next month.
Oliver Ho will release the debut full-length from his Broken English Club alias in late November.
The British artist is probably best known for his Raudive project, but lately he's been directing his energies towards the dark and techno-tinged Broken English Club. Under that name he's released records on Jealous God and Cititrax, including a recent split EP with Silent Servant. He returns to Cititrax for Suburban Hunting, which reportedly broadens the focus of the project to include Ho's other influences—post-punk, noise and grindcore among them. (The track "Scum" is a tribute to Napalm Death's foundational 1987 album of the same name.)
"It's not about some idea of the future, it's about a grubbier seedier world," Ho says of Broken English Club. "There's no superior technology here, there's a romance to damp concrete buildings and abandoned reservoirs. Somewhere in the nursing homes that smell of bleach and piss, under the jaundice yellow glow of street lights, there's a dark soul. I like music with a sense of dread, there's drama or suspense in that feeling somewhere."
