- The package features interpretations of Brown's music by Austin Cesear and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.
RVNG is releasing a limited art zine and cassette that shines light on the work of psych musician Bobby Brown.
The project is the result of a friendship struck between Brown—not the R&B singer, the cult psychedelic and folk artist—and RVNG's Matt Werth. The audio side of The Enlightening Beam Of Bobby Brown comprises three parts. There's a recording of a discussion between Brown and Werth that took place at Berkeley Art Museum in 2014, plus interpretations of Brown's music by Austin Cesear and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. On top of this, the package comes with a collection of photos taken by Aubrey Trinnaman.
On Tuesday, October 6th, Brown will perform at Commend, a new RVNG-affiliated shop and gallery space located in New York City. Copies of The Enlightening Beam of Bobby Brown will be available on the night.
Listen to Smith's "Bobbing Beams Of Light" below.
