- The Boston producer will release his first album as Scuba Death on Further Records.
Ricardo Donoso will release an album on Further Records this August.
Donoso is a Boston-based synth wiz known particularly for a run of records on Digitalis, most recently 2013's EP double-header, which RA's Maya Kalev claimed "borrows liberally from" trance. The music he makes as Scuba Death is a little more somber, with a "focus on analogue sound, percussion, sampling and location recordings," according to the press release.
Inspired by Donoso's near-death experience in the Atlantic ocean, Nitrogen Narcosis follows the 2011 private issue EP Demon Seed. It's based on themes of "fear and death-anxiety," with droning, near-ambient passages and sequencing meant to mimic being "suddenly thrust into the darkest reaches of the ocean."
