- The London émigré has revealed details of his new label, which has an Indonesian theme.
Dan Mitchell, the co-founder of East London fashion boutique LN-CC, has started a new label called Island Of The Gods.
Mitchell left LN-CC at the start of this year. Having swapped London for Bali, he'll run Island Of The Gods from his new Indonesian home. Mitchell says the label will aim to "bridge the gap between the old world musicians and sounds of Indonesia, [and] fuse it with modern sounds."
The first record comes from Zsou, AKA Mo Morris and Merrick Adams. The duo appeared on LN-CC's in-house label in 2012 with Written In Dust / Wild Honey, and again last year with a remix of Phil Manzanera. On Admiral Byrd they've embraced the spirit of the new label, enlisting Javanese Sinden singer Endah Laras to perform vocals on the title track (there's a dub version too).
Speaking to RA, Mitchell said Island Of The Gods would also release a series of concept LPs based on Balinese field recordings.
