- The Berlin-based techno producer will debut his new alter ego on Avian sublabel Mira in June.
Sigha will debut his new project, Faugust, with a 10-inch for Avian sublabel Mira next month.
"I wanted to explore things other than just techno, because that’s not where my musical interests start and stop," James Shaw said in a recent interview with Juno Plus. "And so for a long time now I’ve kind of been thinking about embarking on a project that was maybe more synthwave-orientated." Shaw told Juno Plus the project is a homage to his late mother: "It’s music that I think she would have liked," he says.
Due out June 12th, Devotions (1984–2006) explores a side of Shaw's sound that has been "largely buried since 2004," according to a press release. In a deviation from his recent productions, the record explores a more shoegeazy sound, with Shaw citing bands like Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine as touch points. In keeping with previous Mira records, the artwork on Devotions (1984–2006) has been done by Juan Mendez, AKA Silent Servant.
