- The two veteran artists have a collaborative four-tracker on Nonplace Records due out later this month.
Burnt Friedman has teamed up with Saam Schlamminger for a self-titled EP under the name Tohuwabohu.
Tohuwabohu is the next release on Friedman's own Nonplace Records, and it comes after the longtime German experimentalist put out another joint LP on the label with Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit earlier in the year. This time, his collaborator is the Istanbul-born, Munich-based Schlamminger, AKA Chronomad, whose work focuses on abstract approaches to Middle East percussion. The result, taken from Friedman's studio this summer: four tracks, each about three or four minutes in length, filled with dense, off-kilter rhythms.
