- The UK techno duo's first full-length will come out next month on Perc Trax.
Techno duo Forward Strategy Group will release their first album, Labour Division, next month on Perc Trax.
Forward Strategy Group is Al Matthews (AKA Smear) and Patrick Walker, two techno producers from Leeds and Edinburgh respectively. Over the past few years they've released a handful of EPs that have ranged from sleek and atmospheric to noisy and aggressive, making themselves a new favorite among techno connoisseurs in the process. The upcoming album allegedly shows them further expanding their palette, flirting with "semi-broken beats" and distant echos of post-punk.
Labour Division be available on CD and as a digital download. According to label head Ali Wells (AKA Perc), it will be the only album to come out this year on Perc Trax. Their will be two 12-inch extractions, one before the album's release and one after, the first of which will feature a remix from Factory Floor, a contemporary darkwave duo that's appeared on DFA and Optimo. The launch party will happen in Amsterdam on June 15th, details for which are still forthcoming.
