Spread across venues around Berlin, the week-long series features Kode9, Raime, Zip and many more.
The 12th edition of Club Transmediale will take place in Berlin next month, with dozens of events taking place around the city.
The week-long series will combine panels and workshops with performances and club parties. The overarching theme this year is "the liveness paradigm," or the concept of "live" in music, media and pop culture. "Is the 'live' quality defined by the synchronicity of creation and reception? By real-time processes? Is it the spontaneity of subjective decisions? And does that subsequently assign errors to the function of apparent markers for 'liveness'?" If this sort of thing keeps you awake at night, you'd be well advised to swing by one of CTM's symposiums on the topic at Hebbel Am Ufer (AKA HAU).
As for the musical portion of the event, it will be spread across HAU, Festsaal Kreuzberg, and Maria Am Ostbanhof. Styles range from contemporary chamber artists like Hauschka to grime acts like Terror Danjah. Other highlights include Monolake, The Field, Sleigh Bells and Blackest Ever Black artist Raime. CTM will also be sponsoring that Friday's party at Berghain. Hyperdub will dominate the downstairs room with a headlining set from Kode9 and The Spaceape, while Zip, Sammy Dee and friends carry on with their usual Get Perlonized! party upstairs in Panorama Bar. Two weeks after the whole thing wraps up, there will be one more CTM event at the Berghain Kantine featuring Klimek and Ben Frost.
