- The Illinois-based artist will release his next album this summer on Brainfeeder.
Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder imprint is set to release Nothing Else, a new album by Illinois-based producer Lorn.
Known to his friends as Marcus Ortega, Lorn specializes in mangled, hip hop-inspired beats that make him a perfect fit for Brainfeeder, although his mood tends to be a bit broodier than his labelmates', as titles like "Army of Fear," "Void I" and "What's the Use" suggest. His stock rose a bit this year when his new single "Cherry Moon" found its way into sets by Mary Anne Hobbs and Pete Tong, and earlier this week he landed an interview in FACT. Nothing Else will be the 23 year-old producer's first record since Grief Machine, his 2007 LP on VGR France.
To get an idea of what Lorn is all about, head over to the Brainfeeder website for free downloads of a few of his tracks, including a remix of "Suicidal Thoughts" by Notorious B.I.G.
