  • New underground cinema and alternative music project Visionäre launches in East London this weekend. Starting out at Shoreditch's Village Underground this Sunday April 25th, Visionäre will present their maiden outing as part of the East End Film Festival 2010. Forthcoming documentary Downtown Calling, the Debbie Harry narrated film which charts New York's late '70s Downtown art and music scenes, will provide the evening's centre point (the trailer for which you can see below). Musically speaking, Matt Edwards and Joel Martin will present the visual side of 2008's Silent Movie LP under their Quiet Village guise; Andrew Weatherall steps up for a four-hour post punk/no wave set; and Jigoku offer an A/V showcase "inspired by classic exploitation cinema." Moving on to Monday, and the enduring influence of one David Byrne comes under the spotlight as the Talking Heads frontman's True Stories (Byrne's 1986-released directorial debut) and Ilé Aiyé (1989) films both get a screening. Music-wise, Dalston four-piece Django Django provide the post-movie ear candy. Tickets for both Sunday and Monday's Visionäre events are available to purchase directly through RA Tickets.
