Zomby, Efdemin and Hudson Mohawke will all be in the North West this weekend for the 14th annual Futuresonic festival.
Manchester's annual Futuresonic festival takes place this weekend, hosting a mix of recognised and emerging talent in the art and music spheres.
The festivities are spread out over multiple venues across the weekend, but those wanting to start early can plump for either Murcof's drone-heavy electronica or reformed hip-hop crew Antipop Consortium on Thursday night. Friday is when everything really begins to kick off, however, with specific events for experimental electronics, avant pop and indie providing the counterpoint for more club friendly styles. Xela, Ariel Pink, Hudson Mohawke, Daedelus, Tim Exile, Philip Glass and cosmic disco pioneer Daniele Baldelli will all play sets over the course of the festival, but if you just fancy a big, dirty rave up, their closing party will be just what the doctor ordered.
Taking place at Club Underground in the Students' Union, the night will be split between the bass-heavy selections of Kode9, Zomby and HATE Soundsystem in the main room, and slick Teutonic house and techno from Efdemin, Tobias Freund and Move D in room two. That night will mark the last moments of Futuresonic in its current incarnation, as next year sees the organisers rebrand the festival as Futureeverything.
