- Stevie Kotey is set to release his debut full-length as Afrobutt next month.
Stevie Kotey will unveil his debut full-length as Afrobutt in February.
Kotey is considered by many to be one of the forefathers of London's now burgeoning electronic disco scene, with his Bear Entertainment, Bear Funk and Hairy Claw labels providing the platform for the early works of Lindstrom, Brennan Green and Lexx. In the late '90s his Akwaaba project (in collaboration with Paul "Mudd" Murphy and Tom Lee) explored the space between afrobeat, disco, dub and house.
Entitled Wunderbutt, the record will come out on the relatively young Electric Minds label, which has already seen releases from Gatto Fritto, Chaz Jankel and Ilija Rudman. If you like your dubby disco and cosmic house, then Wunderbutt may just be the album that'll get your butt wiggling.
