Björk, Oneohtrix Point Never and Max Richter will also appear at the 23-day winter festival from May 27th.
The lineup for Vivid Sydney 2016 has been announced.
The annual winter festival of light, music and ideas will be illuminating Sydney for a full 23 days—the longest Vivid yet. The Sydney Opera House will once again be hosting the bulk of the musical attractions with its two week Vivid LIVE programme, with New Order headlining the 2016 edition. They'll be performing at the House over four nights, two of which will be with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Anohni of Antony & The Johnsons will also play four nights, showcasing her latest album HOPELESSNESS with collaborator Oneohtrix Point Never. (Oneohtrix will also play a solo show on May 29th.)
German composer Max Richter will be playing his eight-hour Sleep album in full—a piece he discussed with RA's Holly Dicker just last month—on two nights, from 11:30 PM until 7:30 AM in the Opera House foyer. Future Classic will present the live debut of Perth producer Ta-ku on June 3rd with fellow FC artist Wafia. This year's Friday and Saturday night dance parties, held in The Studio underneath the Sydney Opera House, will be hosted and curated by now-closed venue Goodgod Small Club. Lineups for the four shows, presented by Goodgod Supper Club, are TBA.
Away from the Harbour, Björk will DJ the launch of BJÖRK DIGITAL, a new 'virtual reality project' from the Icelandic artist. Her exhibition runs from June 4th to 18th at Carriageworks. Dozens more dance events will be going on around the city, with venues like Freda's and Tatler throwing parties throughout Vivid.
